Jazz Performances in the Center Courtyard

SATURDAY, APRIL 5
10am - Rob Resetar, piano
Rob Resetar has played piano with the Marvellettes, Dion & the Belmonts, The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Harry James Orchestra, The Dusty Chaps and many more. He has composed and orchestrated for films and television shows including Hardcastle & MacCormick and NOVA and has had his music performed by major orchestras like the Boston Pops, Minnesota Orchestra and many others.

11:15am - Gigi Burton, jazz vocals

Gigi Burton has a strong history, background and more than 25 years of experience onstage, in the arts and accomplished in a wide variety of dance, music and acting genres. She has performed with Arizona Theatre Company, Catalina players and Arizona Rose Theater Co. Having performed as lead female vocalist and musical director for the Piazza Gavi Jazz Ensemble in 2013, she presently performs with various jazz, R&B, pop and funk fusion bands. She is presently the Chanteuse at Tavolinos Ristorante Italiano and is female vocalist for 80's & Gentlemen.

12:30pm - Annon & The Late Show, Latin jazz/R&B
Annon & The Late Show is the creation of Roderick Annon. Based out of Tucson, the band plays smooth, Latin-style R&B, such as Carlos Santana, as well as blues and classic music, played in a soulful rhythmic style. They also play their own original music, written by Annon. The band is made up of four members with part-time members added as needed.

1:45pm - The LoBros, trombone duo
The LoBros band is created around two trombone playing brothers, both Arizona natives, graduates of the University of Arizona and professional musicians based in Tucson. The LoBros perform original pieces that combine a variety of different musical styles and genres including classical, Latin, jazz, blues, funk and music traditions from around the world. Creating a unique and energizing musical experience, the duo intends to make classical music more relevant and believes The LoBros music is a perfect reflection of the cultural melting pot that gives Arizona and America such a unique character.

3pm - Retro Swing 7, classic swing & jazz
Retro Swing 7 consists of four horns, four rhythm and a vocalist, calling themselves "retro" swing in a mission to preserve the great music of the swing era while, at least occasionally, giving it a more contemporary twist. Their classic swing arrangements sound as much as possible like the classic recordings of the 1930s and ‘40s. Jazz standards are new and interesting interpretations that give old music a fresh sound.
SUNDAY, APRIL 6
11am - River Road Ramblers, Dixieland jazz
The River Road Ramblers were created in 2006 to provide a Dixieland Band alternative for the Tucson area, made up of eight experienced musicians on trumpet, clarinet, tenor sax, trombone, guitar, piano, bass and drums. The performances are a mix of roaring 1920s, ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s Dixieland jazz performed in true Mardi Gras style.

12:15pm - Eight Squared, Bossa Nova
Eight Squared presents original music in a combination of instruments, not often found together on one stage in the jazz genre. The somewhat unusual instrumentation features pedal steel guitar, 12-string guitar and electric guitar as well as a stellar bass and drums rhythm section made up of two of Tucson's most respected and longstanding musicians. The diverse backgrounds, talent and songwriting of the members result in a sonic combination unlike anything being performed today.

1:30pm - Raw Material, contemporary jazz and blues
The band is comprised of artist in residence and longtime Tucson-based musicians, Tom Galarneau (vocals, bass), Ed Durazo (drums), Steve Smith (guitar) and Malik Alkibar (sax and keyboards). Over the past two decades, they have all performed together as band members in various ensembles as well as leaders of their own bands on the club and concert circuit throughout greater Tucson, Phoenix and Chicago.

2:45pm - Quantum Nites, jazz
The “Nites” share a common love and admiration for the jazz of such greats as Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver, Lee Morgan and so many others.  Their styles range from familiar ballads, to Latin, Bossa, modal jazz and swing.  All of the band members have many years of experience playing with bands in different parts of the country. They continue to expand their musical horizons by adding new compositions to their repertoire and arranging them to fit their own musical style. Quantum Nites truly enjoys performing great jazz and most of all having a great time with their audience.
