Know Man's Land celebrates the marriage of Jazz and the blues in
ways that are intriguing and yet truly improvisational. Billy
Lomelino's searing guitar riffs snake in and out of the realms of
music and into pure poetry. All the while, Steve Fairfield is busy
breaking down the barriers of tradition and pushing the envelope of
convention through his unique drum stylings. Jon Solbakken brings bass
lines from the soul that will take you on a journey into the depths of
emotion. We can take you down the river. So will you take that
journey with us? That trip down the river to... Know Man's Land.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, I have been performing since I was a child. Jazz is my chosen genre as I love the melodies, lyrics and passion it possesses. I have lived in Tucson since late 2007 and have had the wonderful opportunity to play with some of the most talented instrumentalists in the area.

Rich Sound Featuring Classic Swing and Jazz Standards.
Our band consists of four horns, four rhythm, and a vocalist. We call ourselves "retro" swing because we want to preserve the great music of the swing era while--at least occasionally--giving it a more contemporary twist. In our classic swing arrangements we sound as much as possible like the classic recordings of the 30s and 40s. In our jazz standards we look for new and interesting interpretations that give old music a fresh sound. And for good measure, we include other varieties such as classic rock, dixieland, polkas, etc. In every case, we try to pick only what we think is the very best of its kind.

First conceived by BC Bird in 2007, The Railbirdz sound is based on variations of Chicago style blues, R&B, a dash of funk, and a little soul.
The 5 members of the Birdz are veterans of over 1500 shows and have performed individually in Boston, New York, Chicago, Seattle, and all over Arizona. The band features two guitars, bass, drums, and sax, while two members of the group "double" on keyboards, and 4 of the Birdz sing lead and harmony. The Bouncing Czechs Band was formed 14 years ago by members of the Tucson Czech-Slovak Club. The initial members were George Masa, Frank Prokop, John Prokop, Bill Kohut and Joe Malik. The band initially played for club functions, but as they became more popular, played for other events in the city of Tucson.
The Bouncing Czechs have been popular for dancing and have played at mobile home parks, Senior communities, Ethnic Clubs in Tucson, Fraternal organizations, Tucson and Phoenix Area Arts Festivals, the Hon-Dah Casino in Pinetop, numerous private parties, and the Tucson Czech-Slovak Club where they play several times during the year.
The Bouncing Czechs perform throughout the year. We are experienced and accomplished musicians that love to play our music for Southern Arizona audiences.

The Street Minstrels began as a guitar-mandolin duet in 1986 playing mostly Irish, Classical and Traditional music. We would occasionally perform for tips at The Fourth Avenue Street Fair in Tucson, Arizona. It was while performing in this festive atmosphere that Frank got the idea for the group's name. The duo eventually became a trio consisting of guitar, violin and flute our flautist also doubles on the clarinet. Our repertoire has expanded to include more International Folk Music, Renaissance and American and European Standards. Our unique sound is varied and festive.
